The Global Communication & Social Change Division is seeking expressions of interest for a Vice Chair officer position:

VICE CHAIR View formal role description. Two year term (4 year commitment: serves two year term as VC, then serves two years as Chair). Vice chairs are often named section planner for the ICA conference. This means the vice chair is responsible for coordinating, in collaboration with the chair, the DIV/IG program. The Vice Chair will work with the Chair to coordinate the submission and review of papers and other presentations at the ICA annual conference. The Vice Chair identifies issues of interest to the DIV/IG and put these before the members for discussion and advice at the annual business meeting or as necessary throughout the year. With the other Officers, the Vice Chair handles the administrative functions of the DIV/IG including, but not limited to, managing communications with the members, and organizing the paper and panel submissions to the annual Association conference.

ICA ANNUAL ELECTIONS 

Online balloting for ICA elections (including all elected division/interest group roles) is open annually from early September to mid-October. Results are typically announced on ICA social media channels and published in the November newsletter.  

ELIGIBILITY

  • ONLY ACTIVE MEMBERS SHALL BE ELIGIBLE for nomination, election, or appointment to office in the Association. If you are interested in running for an elected division/interest group role, your ICA membership (as well as membership in that particular division/interest group) must be active.  
  • CURRENT OFFICERS/ELECTED ROLES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THEIR CURRENT

POSITION:  Officers/elected incumbents may not succeed themselves in a particular office.  

  • CANDIDATES MAY ONLY RUN FOR 1 ELECTED POSITION: Candidates may not run for, or hold, more than one elected office at a time.  You may not run for, or hold, an elected office across multiple DIV/IGs - For example, a candidate may not run for Secretary of CAM and SEC Representative of Game Studies.  Candidates who submit themselves for more than one elected position will be disqualified.  
  • VICE CHAIR CANDIDATES MAY NOT HAVE PREVIOUSLY HELD THE CHAIR ROLE OF THAT

PARTICULAR DIVISION/INTEREST GROUP. Per ICA bylaws, "no previously elected officer of the Board of Directors shall again hold the same office."

Expressions of interest should be sent by 8th August 2024 to the division’s chair, Saba Bebawi (saba.bebawi@uts.edu.au). Anyone who wishes to be on the ballot must provide a candidate statement, limited to one paragraph with 2,000 characters (approximately 300 words). They should be submitted in plain text with no special formatting (i.e. no bold, underline, bulleted items). They are published as submitted, it is important that you proofread these prior to submitting them to the Chair.
